The Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council (GO ART!) is proud to administer the New York State Council on the ArtsDecentralization Regrant Program in Genesee and Orleans Counties. Through an annual grant application process, it is our intent to increase and upgrade the arts and cultural programming in our two-county region and also to help support our local arts and cultural community. In 2007, GO ART! is offering funding through two distinct Decentralization programs: Reach and Ripple.

Please note that all GO ART! deadlines are POSTMARK deadlines. Forms need to either be postmarked by the date indicated, or dropped off at our office by the end of the business day on that date.

INTENT TO APPLY Form (postmarked by September 1st!)

An Intent to Apply Form must be submitted for any individual artist, nonprofit organization or government agency interested in applying this grant cycle for an arts or cultural project in 2007. Submitting this form does not mean that you must apply for a grant, but if you don't submit this form, you will NOT be able to apply for a grant. So if in doubt, send it in!

Artists in the Schools Grants: The program is designed to encourage artists, teachers, administrators, and parents to collaborate on well-planned partnership programs that involve interdisciplinary art programs in a curriculum.
These matching grants are available to public and private schools and home school groups that have not-for-profit status in Genesee, Livingston, Orleans and Wyoming Counties and Wayland-Cohocton Central School. They fund artists to work with teachers integrating the arts into the core curriculum. Artists must work for at least five days (three days for first-time applicant) with a core group of students. The core group may be a grade level or subject area, but every student should have at least five meetings (three meetings for first-time applicant) with the artist in a small group. Projects have explored the Erie Canal through regional music, Greek mythology and theatre through drama, anatomy through drawing and painting, creative writing through storytelling, African culture through African drumming. Successful applicants can receive up to $1,500 toward the cost of the residency. Fifty percent of the total cost of the residency project comes from the school in a combination of in-kind and cash contributions. The cash contribution must be equal to at least 10% of the total grant request. Applications must be postmarked by the last Wednesday in June or the Wednesday immediately following January 1. Applicants must consult with the GVCA program coordinator before applying. Next deadline is January 2007. Grant application as a Word file may be downloaded here.
