	to individual artists residing in Genesee and Orleans Counties who wish to create new arts and cultural projects within a community context
	Carol Culhane............................................. $2,250 “Reclaiming Orleans County Culture”: Mural artist will create a series of paintings depicting scenes from the glory days of the Pratt Opera House in Albion, NY. The works will be affixed to the exterior of the building over historic steel-shuttered doors (2nd floor) and other sections that will later be restored. The works will be based on photographs of posters from actual performances (circa 1880s), fragments of which were found in the process of cleaning out the building, and from souvenirs on loan from community members. John Volpe................................................ $2,250 “Native American Children's Books”: Creation of 30-page storybook for children that depicts native american tales from the oral tradition of that culture. As a native american, the artist will combine these stories with his paintings that have been generated through "vision drawing". Books will be donated to libraries, museums, nature centers and schools.
